What we do

One contractor for the whole exterior, from the deck up

Right Choice Exteriors has worked Canton and Stark County since 2014. We are family owned and veteran owned, we run one office on Whipple Avenue SW, and the person who inspects your roof works for the company that repairs it.

Our inspections follow the HAAG Certified Inspector standard for residential roofs, which is the same framework many insurance carriers train their own adjusters on. We install architectural asphalt from GAF, Owens Corning and CertainTeed, and metal systems using Alpha Rib panels rolled in Holmesville, Ohio. Nothing is due until the work is finished and you are satisfied.

Residential Roofing

Shingle roof installation, replacement and repair for homes across Stark County. We start with a documented inspection, tell you honestly whether the roof needs replacing, and back completed work with a 12 year workmanship warranty.

Roof Replacement

A full tear off to the decking, sheathing repaired where it has softened, ice and water shield at the eaves and valleys, new flashing, and attic ventilation corrected before the new roof goes on. Architectural asphalt or metal, with no money down until the work is finished.

Roof Repair

Leak repair that traces water back to its true entry point rather than sealing the nearest visible defect. Pipe boots, chimney and wall flashing, valleys, ridge caps and wind lifted shingles. If a repair will responsibly carry the roof a few more years, we will say so.

Emergency Roof Repair

Active leaks move ahead of routine estimate visits. We contain the water to stop it spreading through insulation and framing, photograph the damage before anything is covered, then return to complete the permanent repair once conditions allow.

Roof Inspection

A documented inspection to the HAAG residential standard covering the shingle field, flashing at every penetration, valleys, ridges, gutters and attic ventilation. You receive photographs of every finding and keep the report whether you hire us or not.

Metal Roofing

Standing seam and exposed fastener metal roofing using Alpha Rib, textured Grip-Tex and Weatherlock 150 panels. Every roof is furred out with 1×4 strips so seasonal expansion cannot back the fasteners out, and a snow bar goes on every metal roof we install.

Commercial Roofing

Assessment, repair and replacement for business and institutional property. We evaluate the existing system, the deck beneath it and the drainage, then give a realistic read on remaining service life before recommending anything.

Siding

Vinyl siding installation and replacement with the sheathing and framing inspected once the old panels come off. Decades of wind driven rain behind failed siding can leave damage nobody has seen. Many replacements are completed in a single day.

Seamless Gutters

Seamless aluminum, copper and steel gutters formed on site to the exact length of your roofline, sized to the roof area actually draining into them, with downspouts routed clear of the foundation. Gutter guards where tree cover justifies them.

Storm damage and insurance

Documented to the standard your adjuster already uses

Hail bruising and wind creasing are rarely visible from the ground, and the difference between genuine storm damage and normal ageing is what a claim turns on. That distinction is the core of the HAAG Certified Inspector standard, which requires 100 residential roof inspections as the primary on roof inspector before the exam can even be taken.

Many insurance carriers train their own adjusters on that same methodology. When we photograph impact pattern, density and direction and write it up, your carrier receives it in the framework they already work from. Our team also includes a licensed adjuster who works directly alongside yours through the inspection and scope process.

No contractor can promise a claim outcome, and we will tell you plainly when damage does not look like it would support one. Opening a claim that will not hold up helps nobody.

What we document

  • Impact pattern, density and direction across the shingle field
  • Wind lifted and creased shingles along ridges and roof edges
  • Flashing separation at chimneys, walls and penetrations
  • Collateral damage to gutters, downspouts, vents and siding
  • Photographs taken before any temporary protection goes on
Roofing

Residential and commercial roofing

The same crews, the same inspection standard and the same warranty, applied to two very different kinds of building.

Residential roofing

Everything that protects a house, from a single failed pipe boot through to a full tear off and rebuild.

Commercial roofing

Business and institutional property, planned around how the building actually operates.

Exteriors

Siding, gutters and the rest of the envelope

Exterior services

A roof is one part of the system that keeps water out of a house. These are the rest.

Why the exterior is one system

Undersized gutters overflow and soak the foundation regardless of how good the roof above them is. Siding that has been letting water behind it for years will rot sheathing the roof never touched. An attic that cannot breathe cooks shingles from underneath and shortens the life of a roof you have just paid for.

Because we handle all of it, an inspection looks at the whole envelope rather than stopping at the shingles. It is also why we correct ventilation as part of a replacement instead of treating it as an upsell.

Common questions

What Ohio homeowners ask us most

Ohio does not license roofing contractors at state level, so the burden of checking falls on you. Ask for proof of liability insurance and workers compensation, and confirm it directly with the insurer rather than accepting a certificate. Check whether the company is registered where it needs to be: North Canton, for example, requires contractors to register before starting work.

Look for credentials that are hard to obtain rather than logos anyone can display. A HAAG Certified Inspector qualification requires 100 residential roof inspections as the primary on roof inspector before the exam. Manufacturer credentials such as GAF, Owens Corning and CertainTeed require training and verified insurance. Finally, be wary of anyone asking for a large deposit up front. We do not take payment until the work is complete and you are satisfied.

Any figure quoted before someone has seen the roof is a guess, which is why published estimate ranges for Canton vary so widely. What actually drives the number is the roof area in squares, the pitch, how many layers have to come off, how much decking has softened and needs replacing, the number of penetrations and valleys that need flashing, whether ventilation has to be corrected, and the material you choose.

An older Canton home is more likely to carry surprises, because the median construction year in the city is 1947 and roughly 41 percent of homes were built before 1940. Plank decking and multiple existing layers both change the scope. We inspect first, then give you the scope and price in writing before anything is scheduled, and financing is available through Service Finance Company subject to credit approval.

For most homes here, architectural asphalt shingles are the sensible default. They handle freeze and thaw cycling well, the cost is predictable, and repairs are straightforward. Three tab shingles are cheaper but generally last fifteen to twenty years against twenty to thirty for architectural.

Metal is worth comparing on cost per year rather than cost up front. It sheds snow in sheets rather than holding it, and it lasts considerably longer than asphalt. The trade off is a higher initial price and installation details that matter enormously: we furr every metal roof out with 1×4 strips so seasonal expansion cannot back the fasteners out, and a snow bar goes on every one we install.

If hail is your main concern, impact rated shingles are worth asking about, and some insurers offer a premium discount for them. Check with your own carrier before assuming it applies.

Usually yes, and which office issues it depends on the exact address rather than the mailing city. The City of Canton, Canton Township, Perry Township, Plain Township, Jackson Township and each incorporated community run their own permitting. North Canton additionally requires the contractor to be registered before work begins.

This catches people out in unincorporated areas, where a Canton mailing address does not mean the City of Canton handles the permit. We confirm the correct jurisdiction for your parcel and file the paperwork as part of the job.

It depends on the cause and on your policy. Sudden storm damage from hail or wind is frequently covered. Wear, age and deferred maintenance are not. That is the distinction an adjuster is trained to make, and it is the same distinction the HAAG standard teaches inspectors to document.

What helps a legitimate claim is evidence: impact pattern, density and direction, photographed before any temporary protection goes on. What does not help is filing on a roof that has simply reached the end of its life. We will tell you honestly which situation you are in, and no contractor can promise you an outcome.

Condition decides this, not age. A structurally sound roof with one failed pipe boot should be repaired, and we say so regularly. A well ventilated twenty two year old roof on a sheltered lot can have years left in it.

Replacement earns its cost when problems appear in several areas at once, when granule loss has exposed the mat across a wide field, when decking has softened, or when repairs have become an annual expense. If you are unsure, the inspection is free and you keep the photographs either way.

Roofing happens year round here, but the shoulder seasons are easiest to schedule and generally kindest to materials. Asphalt shingles need warmth to seal properly, so deep winter installs require more care and sometimes hand sealing.

The practical consideration is different: after a widespread hail or wind event, every roofer in Stark County is under load at the same time. If your roof is borderline, getting it inspected before storm season rather than after it usually means more choice and a calmer schedule.

Inspections are free and carry no obligation. We examine the shingle field, flashing at every penetration, valleys, ridges, gutters and the attic from below, then photograph every finding.

You receive the photographs and the explanation whether you hire us or not, which means you can get a second opinion with real evidence in hand rather than a verbal summary. If the roof does not need work, we will tell you that.

Not sure which service you need?

That is what the inspection is for. We will look at the roof and the rest of the exterior, photograph what we find, and tell you plainly what needs doing. Free, with no obligation either way.
