When to Call Right Away
Some roof problems can wait for a scheduled appointment. These cannot:
- Active water coming through a ceiling or running down an interior wall
- A tree limb or debris that has punctured the roof
- Shingles or roof sections torn off by high wind
- A sagging or bowing ceiling, which can indicate water pooling above it
- Visible daylight or open decking after a storm
Water moves fast once it is inside a structure. Insulation absorbs it, drywall holds it, and framing stays wet long after the rain stops. The difference between calling immediately and waiting for the weekend is often the difference between a repair and a rebuild.
Emergency Tarping and Containment
The first priority is stopping water from entering, not completing the permanent repair. We secure the affected area to keep the interior dry and prevent the damage from spreading while a proper repair is planned and, where applicable, an insurance claim is opened.
Temporary protection is exactly that. It buys time and limits loss. The permanent repair follows once conditions allow the work to be done correctly.
What You Can Do Before We Arrive
- Move furniture and belongings out from under any active leak
- Put a bucket under the drip and lay towels to protect flooring
- If a ceiling is bulging with trapped water, keep everyone clear of the area
- Photograph the damage inside and out, which helps considerably with a claim
- Stay off the roof. A wet or storm-damaged roof is genuinely dangerous, and a fall is far worse than water damage
